1. Tech Pack: Phase 1

A tech pack, also known as a specification sheet or style sheet, is a document that contains all the necessary information and details about a product's design and production. It is typically used in the fashion and apparel industry to communicate the design and construction of a garment to manufacturers. A tech pack usually includes the following information. Product description, technical sketches, measurements, material and trim details, construction details, grading specifications, packaging details, quality standards, labelling, and branding guidelines. Tech packs are essential for ensuring accurate and consistent production of a product. They serve as a communication tool between designers and manufacturers, helping to maintain quality and consistency throughout the production process.

*Please note: We do not offer a tech pack only service. This service is for those who utilise our pattern cutting service*

2. Pattern cutting: Phase 2

Pattern cutting is a crucial step in the clothing manufacturing process. It involves creating a blueprint or template of a garment that serves as a guide for cutting the fabric and sewing the pieces together. Compass-I.D conducts production methods using the best and most up-to-date software. We use Gerber accumark and have implemented Clo3D into our workflow allowing us to be as sustainable as possible. Clo3D allows customers to see exactly how their product will look and fit before sampling. This saves time, money and gives our clients peace of mind knowing that their 1st sample is likely to come out mostly right.

3. Pre-production management: Phase 3

Creating your initial sample is a significant milestone. The sample is employed as a real-world test. If you find it satisfactory, the sample is typically assessed on a fit model for comfort and wearability. It is often the item chosen for product or promotional shoots. With the integration of new 3D fashion design, the average accuracy rate for the initial customer sample should range between 90% and 100%, taking into account the intricacy of your product.

As experts in the industry, they offer a service to manage your sampling stage, ensuring efficiency and peace of mind. Act as the first point of contact between the factory and themselves. This includes resolving issues, ordering swatches as needed, and ensuring adherence to lead times. They also provide quality control to verify that the product meets the specifications outlined in the tech pack. The service also includes post-production assistance, where they monitor the product's lifespan and address any customer feedback, such as reports of fading after one wash or size related issues. This service is perfect for those looking to save time or lacking the confidence to handle this process on their own. Our one-time fee is based on the complexity of the product(s), and is charged per style. Multiple styles qualify for a discount.

*Please note: This is a service for those who have used our Tech pack and pattern cutting service

4. Grading: Phase 4

Grading is the process of turning the base size or sample size pattern into additional sizes using a size specification sheet or grading increments. These increments are referred to as garment grading rules. Each specific clothing market area and level has different grading rules. We offer 3 sizes minimum (not including the base pattern). Clients can either provide us with a tech pack providing the grading rules or we will follow UK standards. Grading is done digitally using Gerber accumark.

All files are transferred to the client along with a size chart where they can then send it digitally to overseas factories or choose to have their patterns physically printed/plotted on paper or card and shipped to any location.
